What is NTA EPFO Social Security Assistant SSA & Stenographer (Group C)

The National Testing Agency Employee Provident Fund Organization (NTA EPFO) Social Security Assistant (SSA) and Stenographer (Group C) are job positions in the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) in India. The EPFO is a statutory body that administers the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF), a retirement savings scheme for employees in India.

The Social Security Assistant (SSA) is responsible for maintaining accounts and records of provident fund contributions, claims, and settlements. They also handle inquiries and complaints from EPF members and provide assistance in various administrative tasks.

The Stenographer (Group C) is responsible for providing stenographic assistance to higher officials in the EPFO. They transcribe dictation, take minutes of meetings, and perform other secretarial duties.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the recruitment process for these positions on behalf of the EPFO. Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria can apply for the positions by filling out the online application form and appearing for the selection process, which includes a written examination followed by a skill test. Candidates who clear the selection process will be offered a job in the EPFO as either an SSA or Stenographer (Group C), depending on their performance and preference.

Exam Pattern:

The NTA EPFO Social Security Assistant (SSA) and Stenographer (Group C) recruitment exam consists of two phases – Phase I and Phase II. The detailed exam pattern and syllabus for both phases are given below:

Phase I

The Phase I exam is a preliminary examination conducted online. The exam consists of two sections: Reasoning Ability and Numerical Aptitude. The total duration of the exam is 1 hour. The detailed exam pattern for Phase I is given below:

Phase II

The Phase II exam is also conducted online and consists of three sections: Reasoning/Intelligence, General/Economy/Financial Awareness, and English Language. The duration of the exam is 2 hours. For the Stenographer (Group C) position, a skill test in stenography will also be conducted after the Phase II exam. The detailed exam pattern for Phase II is given below:

Note: There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in the Reasoning/Intelligence and General/Economy/Financial Awareness sections, while for the English Language section, the negative marking is 0.5 marks.

Current Affairs, Static GK, Indian Financial System, Banking and Financial Awareness, Monetary Plans, Economic Concepts, and Insurance.
English Language
Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary, Grammar, Sentence Improvement, Fill in the Blanks, Error Spotting, and Para Jumbles.
Stenography (for Stenographer Group C)
Candidates will be required to transcribe dictated passages in English or Hindi, as per the requirement of the job. The minimum speed required for English stenography is 80 words per minute, while for Hindi stenography, it is 60 words per minute.
