Selection Process
The selection process for the SBI PO 2025 exam consists of three main stages, followed by the final selection:
- Prelims Stage:
This is the first phase, consisting of an online objective test. The test has three sections: English, Reasoning, and Quantitative Aptitude. Candidates are shortlisted based on the cut-off score for the Mains exam. - Mains Stage:
The second stage consists of both an objective and a descriptive test. The descriptive test, which is for 50 marks, follows immediately after the objective test. Candidates will be shortlisted based on the merit list. - Psychometric Test and Interview:
The psychometric test evaluates the personality profile of candidates. Candidates who qualify the previous stages will be called for the final selection and interview round.
SBI PO Descriptive Test
The SBI PO Descriptive Test is a 30-minute exam worth 50 marks. It evaluates the candidates’ English writing skills through tasks like letter writing and essay writing. Only those who pass both the Prelims and Mains exams will proceed to the interview stage. The final merit list will be created based on the combined scores from the Mains exam and the interview.
SBI PO Marking Scheme 2024-25
Section | Marking Scheme |
---|---|
Objective Test | Full marks for each correct answer. One-fourth mark penalty for each wrong answer. No penalty for unanswered questions. |
Descriptive Test | No negative marking or penalty for unanswered questions. |
SBI PO Interview 2025
The Bank may conduct a psychometric test to assess the personality profile of candidates shortlisted for Phase III. The results of the test may be shared with the interview panel for better insights into the candidates.
The final stage includes the Group Discussion (20 marks) and Interview (30 marks). The overall merit list is based on the combined score of the Mains exam and the Group Discussion/Interview stage.
Candidates who clear both the Objective and Descriptive tests will be ranked in descending order in their respective categories. The specified number of candidates from each category will be invited for Group Exercises and Interviews, with qualifying marks set by the Bank.
SBI PO 2025 Final Selection
The final selection is based on the following criteria:
- Prelims Marks: The marks from the Preliminary exam are not considered for final selection.
- Phase 2 & Phase 3 Qualification: Candidates must separately qualify Phase 2 (Mains) and Phase 3 (Group Discussion & Interview) to be eligible for final selection.
- Final Score Calculation:
- Marks obtained in the Mains exam (out of 250 marks) are converted to a scale of 75.
- Marks obtained in the Group Exercises & Interview (out of 50) are converted to a scale of 25.
The combined total is then converted to 100, which determines the final merit list for each category. The candidates with the highest merit rank in each category are selected.
