PM Kisan Scheme
About:
- On February 24th, 2019, it was stated that farmers who own land would receive financial assistance.
Financial Benefits:
- A cash incentive of Rs 6,000 per year, split into three equal amounts, is transferred to agricultural households across the country via the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) option.
Assessment of the Plan:
- Small and Marginal Farmers (SMFs) with landholdings of up to 2 hectares were the program’s primary target group, but later all farmers with landholdings were included in its ambit.
Funding and carrying out:
- It is a central sector programme, and the Indian government is responsible for all of its funding.
- It will be carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
Objectives:
- Should set aside additional money to assist marginal and small farmers in purchasing the various inputs required for growing strong crops and yields that are sufficient for the anticipated farm income at the end of each crop cycle.
- To ensure their ongoing participation in farming activities, protect them from moneylenders, and cover these costs.
- The PM-KISAN smartphone application was developed in partnership between the National Informatics Center and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
- Physical Verification Module: Per the program’s regulations, 5% of participants are obliged to undergo a physical examination each year.
