Exam Levels: The MPSC Exam consists of three levels:

a. Preliminary Exam: The first stage is the Preliminary Exam, also known as the MPSC Prelims. It is an objective-type exam consisting of multiple-choice questions (MCQs).

b. Main Exam: The second stage is the Main Exam, also known as the MPSC Mains. It is a written exam that assesses candidates’ in-depth knowledge of various subjects.

c. Interview: The final stage is the Interview or Personality Test. Candidates who qualify the Main Exam are called for an interview to evaluate their overall personality, communication skills, and suitability for administrative positions.

  1. Exam Pattern:

    a. Preliminary Exam:

    1. The Prelims consist of two papers: General Studies Paper-I and General Studies Paper-II (CSAT).
    2. General Studies Paper-I covers subjects like History, Geography, Polity, Economy, Science, Environment, and Current Affairs.
    3. General Studies Paper-II (CSAT) tests candidates’ aptitude, logical reasoning, and comprehension skills.
    4. Both papers are of 200 marks each, with a duration of 2 hours for each paper.
    5. Negative marking is applicable for incorrect answers.

    b. Main Exam:

    1. The Main Exam consists of six papers, which include both compulsory and optional papers.
    2. Compulsory papers include Marathi, English, General Studies-I, General Studies-II, General Studies-III, and General Studies-IV.
    3. Optional papers are chosen by candidates based on their specialization or interest, such as History, Geography, Political Science, Economics, etc.
    4. Each paper is of 150 marks, except for General Studies-I, which is of 200 marks.
    5. The duration of each paper is 3 hours.

    c. Interview:

  • The interview carries 100 marks.
  • It assesses candidates’ mental alertness, critical powers of assimilation, communication skills, leadership, and intellectual curiosity.

The MPSC Exam covers a wide range of topics, including but not limited to:

  • History, Geography, and Culture of Maharashtra and India
  • Indian Polity, Governance, and Constitution
  • Indian Economy and Sustainable Development
  • Science and Technology
  • Environment and Ecology
  • Current Affairs (National and International)
  • Mental Ability and Logical Reasoning
  • Comprehension and English Language Skills
  • Social Justice, Rights, and International Relations
  • Maharashtra State Government and its Administration
  • Eligibility Criteria: The eligibility criteria for the MPSC Exam include educational qualifications, age limits, and citizenship requirements.
