UPSC PRELIMS QUESTION PAPER 2022: INTRODUCTION

Every year, the UPSC holds Civil Services Exams in three stages: preliminary, main, and personality test or interview. The Civil Services (Preliminary) examination is a multiple-choice test that consists of two parts: General Studies and Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT).

The UPSC CSE Preliminary test is divided into two sections, each of which is given on the same day.

  • General Studies (Paper- 1) of the UPSC Prelims
  • General Studies (Paper- 2) of the UPSC Prelims (CSAT)

Each paper is worth 200 points and lasts two hours. On both papers, there is a negative marking.

Candidates must appear in both papers of the civil services prelims exam in order to be evaluated. The preliminary examination marks are not taken into account when calculating the final result. It is merely a screening test in which candidates who do not meet the cut-off marks are disqualified.

Those who pass all three levels of the IAS exam are admitted to the country’s elite civil services, serving as officers in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and a variety of other positions. It is considered one of the most difficult tests in the country.
