UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2025 Notification Released

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has officially released the notification for the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2025. Aspiring candidates preparing for this prestigious examination must stay updated with the critical details outlined below.

How to Apply

Candidates must apply online via the official UPSC website (https://upsconline.gov.in/). Below are the steps:

  1. One-Time Registration (OTR):
    • Candidates must complete the mandatory OTR process before filling out the application.
    • Changes to the OTR profile are permitted only once within seven days of the application window’s closure (i.e., until February 18, 2025).
  2. Application Form Submission:
    • Ensure accurate details and upload the necessary documents, including a recent photograph with the candidate’s name and date clearly mentioned.
  3. Correction Window:
    • Available from February 12 to February 18, 2025, for rectifying errors in the submitted application form.

Service Nationality Requirements
IAS, IFS, IPS Must be a citizen of India
Other Services Citizen of India, or subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or Tibetan refugee (before January 1, 1962)

Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: 21 years (as of August 1, 2025).
  • Maximum Age: 32 years (born between August 2, 1993, and August 1, 2004).

Educational Qualification

  • A candidate must hold a graduate degree from a recognized university.
  • Final-year students are also eligible, provided they submit proof of graduation by the deadline for the Main Examination.

The UPSC CSE 2025 aims to fill approximately 979 vacancies, including reserved positions for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).

Exam Pattern

Preliminary Examination

  • Objective-type questions with two papers (200 marks each).
  • Negative marking: 1/3rd of the marks will be deducted for incorrect answers.

  1. e-Admit Cards:
    • Downloadable from the UPSC website. No physical admit cards will be sent.
  2. Photo ID Requirement:
    • Carry the same ID used during registration to the examination center.
  3. Prohibited Items:
    • Electronic devices, including mobile phones, smartwatches, and calculators, are strictly prohibited.
  4. Representation on Questions:
    • A 7-day window post-exam is available for candidates to raise concerns about question papers via the official portal.
